CABRAL: Town Entry

Cabral, Barahona, DR

Concept development of a series of options for the town entry of the municipality of Cabral, Barahona. The objective is to show the richness of natural and cultural elements of the town using a space that welcomes new visitors and locals.

The main idea was the use of representative elements of the culture, nature, and architecture of the town, such as the cachuas (typical costume and character of the Holy Week celebrations), the viejacas (tilapias), and the architecture of the Parque Central (Central Park) of the town. All of these elements are represented in the different options by silhouettes or distinctive composition elements that come together as a colorful urban icon.

The concepts are based in an existing “stage” area that changes according to different elements following the theme and a “garden” space using local plants adapted to the extremes temperatures of the town (Euphorbia Milii, Bougainvillea) with benches and lights that attract people to the iconic town entry.
