Cultural Eco-Lodge: The Villas Experience

Barahona, Dominican Republic

Villa models located in the mountains of Barahona, Dominican Republic. With a total occupancy of six, four, and two guests these constructions required the design of an ecological luxury lodging area using local materials as part of an ECO-Lodge in the South region of the mentioned Caribbean island.

The concept design of these villas tries to highlight the vegetation that surrounds the lodging areas and the importance of local surroundings using it as an inspiration for the final shapes, color, materials, and textures of the villas.  The river and the mountains constitute the principal natural elements of attraction in the hotel.

Main villas, for 6 guests, counts with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a living room, kitchen area, an exterior terrace, and an interior terrace with views to the river. Other bedrooms for 4 and 2 guests count with resting area, private bathrooms, and a living room space. The vegetation around each of the lodgings is very unique providing a new experience on each of the visits to the hotel. Up in the canopy of a tree, next to the river, closer to the skirts of the mountains, are all special locations that give the guests a different perspective of the mountains of South Dominican Republic.
